Flow State

Open Water Festival

17th August 2024

Greystones

Often, when we think of Coastal Activity and spending time in the water, our thoughts drift to our Atlantic Coastline. However, with an abundance of opportunity available up and down the shores of our Irish Sea, the inaugural Flow State Open Water Festival is here to shine a light on the athletes, activities and groups involved in both using and protecting these fantastic shores.

Join us for a day of open water dips, races, demonstrations, presentations and interviews that are sure to inspire you to think about our shoreline in a way you haven’t before!

Event Details

8.00am - Dip and Sip hosted by Outsider.ie

The Festival will kick off with a Social Dip and Sip, hosted by Outsider.ie from The Men’s on the South Beach. Grab your best looking pair of togs and your favourite hot beverage and start your day off the right way!

9.30am - Open Water Races

This will see our Open Water races get underway. If you’re interested in getting involved in either our 750m or 1500m distance you can sign up here. With both skins and wetsuit categories available it would be rude not to get involved! Sign up soon as spaces are disappearing fast!

10.00am - 5.00pm Expo, Demonstrations and Interviews

At this point, our Expo will open in St. Davids Holy Faith Secondary School. While we will have vendors in place across the day for people to come and chat to about all things coastal, we will also have a series of talks covering sustainability and ecology as well as interviews with some of the east coasts most prominent ocean athletes!

7.30pm - Premiere of ‘The 32’

‘The 32’ is a mini documentary put together by local folk maker Dylan Troy who followed Damien and documented his attempt to swim 1km in every Irish County over 1 weekend during the summer of 2023. If the trailer is anything to go by, you won’t want to miss this closing event to the festival!!

Aside from the swim entries, this is a free event for the whole family and we’re looking forward to brining you more information in the coming weeks!
